According to the over mental body, perfume has alcoholic content and could potentially lead to false positive results in the breathalyzer test, which each flight crew member must undergo at their first departure airport during a flight assignment, reported India Times.

This is a new addition to the country’s current aviation safety regulations which has mentioned mouthwash as a factor that can affect the breathalyzer examination result.

It is reported that alcohol consumption among flight crew members is a severe issue in India, even though the country is one of those that have the strictest regulations, according to The Independent.

A total of 41 pilots and 116 cabin crew members in India were suspended from flight assignments in 2022 after testing positive for alcohol.

Among these, some had their licenses suspended for an entire year after testing positively for a second time.
