Their sentences of between 40 and 65 days in jail were read out by a local court on Wednesday, reported The Straits Times.

The group reportedly had several other accomplices, all of whom were Indian nationals, and together they have carried out at least two shoplifting attempts on Oct. 12 and Oct. 16.

During the former date they managed to steal 64 pieces of clothing, worth a total of $1,788, by removing their radio-frequency identification price tags before putting them to tote bags and processing as if they had paid, according to The Times of India.

Meanwhile, a security officer interfered with their process on the latter occasion, leaving their attempt of shoplifting 72 items with a total value of $2,271 incomplete. A store sales assistant then reported the case to police, and the group was quickly nabbed.
