A gunman fatally shot 57-year-old radio anchor Juan Jumalon at his private home in the Philippines during a live morning broadcast.

The Guardian reported that the attacker pretended to be a listener of Jumalon, who hosted a show at the Filipino radio station 94.7 Gold FM Calamba, and entered his private property on Sunday where he was having a live broadcast.

Managing to avoid being captured in the livestream, he took Jumalon’s gold necklace after shooting the journalist and fled the scene on a motorcycle driven by an accomplice.

Jumalon was pronounced dead on the way to the hospital.

President of the Philippines Ferdinand Marcos Jr. voiced his condemnation of the shooting and ordered the national police to track down, arrest, and prosecute the attackers as soon as possible.

According to Reuters, the Philippines is one of the most dangerous places in the world for journalists.

Jumalon is the fourth journalist murdered since Marcos took office last year, and the 199th since democracy was restored in the country in 1986.
