The woman, identified as Guan Yue, was caught during a job interview she attended, reported the South China Morning Post Tuesday.
One of Guan's ruses was to apply for job vacancies and participate in interviews despite having already had numerous job titles at other companies, so that she could take photos there and then send these images to companies she worked at, saying the pictures were from client meetings.
The con artist reportedly never turned down any job offers that came to her.
Malaysia's The Sun Daily said police investigation found Guan and her husband would source job opportunities to their peers when they were too busy handling the jobs they already had.
The fraud lasted for three years before one of Guan's employers started suspecting that something was wrong while going through the paperwork and reported the case to the police, reports said.
The investigation also exposed at least 51 other people in Guan’s salary scam, with the amount of money involved in the case exceeding $50 million yuan (about $7 million), News18 reported.
In the three years, Guan and her husband had made enough money to purchase a villa in Shanghai.
