Safety, affordability and stunning natural landscapes are among the main reasons for tourists from Asia to love Vietnam, a recent survey by consulting firm Outbox Company has found.

The survey polled 2,700 tourists from Asian countries who traveled to Vietnam in the first six months of this year.

More than 52% cited the country's natural beauty as the primary motivation for their visit.

Tourists were particularly impressed by the scenery of Ha Long Bay with its limestone karsts rising from the waters, the terraced rice fields of Sa Pa and the beaches of Nha Trang and Da Nang.

Vietnam’s rich cultural heritage is also a major attraction. According to the survey, 45.2% of visitors liked Vietnam for its diverse cultural offerings.

Many were eager to engage in cultural activities with locals and enjoy traditional dishes, which they considered highlights of their visit.

Safety was another significant factor, with 40.7% of respondents viewing Vietnam as a safe destination.

The welcoming nature of the local people further enhanced the travel experience.

Visitors felt safe in Vietnam, noting that the crime rate is lower than in many other Southeast Asian countries.

Vietnam’s commitment to safety is reflected in the 2023 Global Peace Index, in which the country ranked 41st out of 163 countries and territories.

Affordability too made Vietnam an attractive destination, with 40.3% considering its low costs an important aspect when planning their trip.

Vietnam’s peaceful ambiance and slower pace of life was appreciated by 35.8%, particularly in its rural areas and smaller cities.

In the first seven months of this year Vietnam received nearly 10 million foreign visitors, with 70% of them coming from Asian countries and territories led by South Korea, mainland China and Taiwan.
