Vietnam's newest carrier, Vietravel Airlines, has been named the world's fifth best leisure airline at this year's Skytrax World Airline Awards.

It ranked behind Turkey's SunExpress, Canada's Air Transat, U.K.'s TUI Airways, and Germany's TUIfly in the list drawn up by the British airline and airport review and ranking site last week.

The awards represent passenger satisfaction in the product and service standards offered by leisure and charter airlines onboard and at the airport, and are based on a survey of more than 14 million customers in more than 100 countries between September 2021 and August 2022.

Rounding off the top 10 were Germany's Condor Airlines, Switzerland's Edelweiss Air, China's Capital Airlines, another Swiss carrier, Helvetic Airways, and France's Corsair International.

Vietravel was launched in Dec. 2020 and was one of the airlines allowed to operate amid the Covid pandemic.

It is the sixth carrier in a fiercely competitive aviation market along with Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet, Jetstar Pacific, Vietnam Air Services Company, and Bamboo Airways.
