Vietnam will enjoy a four-day break from Sep. 1 to 4 during this year's National Day celebrations, with millions of people preparing to leave major cities for home or popular tourist destinations.
Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City is expected to welcome 120,000 passengers a day on average during the long holiday break, up 12% against normal, according to estimates from Tan Son Nhat Airport Operations Control Center.
There would be 730 flights to and from Tan Son Nhat during the holiday, up 6%.
The number of passengers passing through Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi during the holiday weekend is forecast to increase by 20% against normal days, with the peak day reaching 80,000 passengers, higher than pre-pandemic levels.
On the websites of Vietnamese carriers, round-trip air tickets from Hanoi, HCMC to Da Nang during the holiday cost from VND2.5 million ($106.70) per person while prices from Vietnam's two biggest metropolises to Nha Trang, Phu Quoc and Da Lat range from VND3-3.5 million per person.
Air tickets for the Hanoi-HCMC route cost up to VND4 million per person.
There were 60.8 million domestic tourists in the first half, exceeding the full-year target of 60 million.
