On Monday, the 34-year-old woman was working at a store selling natural products when the tourist carrying shoes and a coffee cup entered, Khaosod English reported.
The staff explained to the tourist in English that she was not allowed to wear shoes in the store or bring drinks from outside, Thai PBS World reported. However, the tourist ignored the instructions, claiming her shoes were not dirty.
When the staff repeated her request, the tourist kicked her twice in the right leg and then walked away.
The assaulted woman then filed a report to local police and provided a picture of the foreign woman from the store’s CCTV camera so authorities could track down the suspect.
Immigration authorities identified the foreign woman who admitted to kicking the staff and made an apology.
Under the Thai law, those committing assault could face up to one year in prison and a fine of up to THB20,000 (US$555).
