Singapore, renowned for its strict laws and low crime rates, has been crowned the world's friendliest city by readers of the U.S. magazine Condé Nast Traveler in its annual Readers' Choice Awards survey.

"Singapore has always had a reputation for being exceptional. The island city-state is known for its financial powerhouses, pristine streets, unmatched security, and now, for its diverse communities offering top-tier hospitality," the magazine wrote.

Beyond its clean streets and modern transportation system, Singapore is exceptionally safe for tourists, with surveillance cameras strategically placed in downtown areas and frequent police patrols at popular tourist sites.

Australia's Sydney ranked second, followed by Las Vegas in the U.S. and Bangkok, Thailand.

Rounding out the top 10 were Cape Town of South Africa, Tokyo of Japan, Marrakech of Morocco, Hong Kong, and Chicago and New York in the U.S.

More than 575,000 Condé Nast Traveler readers participated in the survey, sharing their opinions on various travel experiences, including cities, islands, hotels, resorts, cruise ships, spas, and airlines.

The Readers' Choice Awards, the longest-running accolade in the travel industry, celebrate excellence in hotels, resorts, and destinations around the world.
