Vietnam has been ranked 16th is a list of 100 best cuisines in the world this year, climbing three spots from last year and surpassing Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore, according to international food magazine TasteAtlas.

In Southeast Asia, Vietnamese cuisine trailed only Indonesia, which held the 10th position.

Thailand ranked 24th, followed by the Philippines (25th).

Malaysian cuisine secured the 29th position while Singaporean food ranked 90th.

Italian cuisine was named the world's best this year, followed by cuisine of Greece, Peru, Portugal and Spain.

Recently, two Vietnamese dishes Bun bo Nam Bo (Southern-style beef noodle) and pho bo (beef noodle soup) joined TasteAtlas's list of 100 best dishes in the world for 2026.

Vietnamese cuisine has become better known around the world over the last couple of years, receiving praises from international chefs and prestigious food magazines.

Founded in 2015, TasteAtlas links 9,000 local restaurants and showcases tens of thousands of dishes based on reviews and research by culinary experts, chefs, and users.

The site serves as a global map of traditional dishes made from local ingredients and aims to celebrate great food, foster pride in culinary traditions, and spark curiosity about dishes unfamiliar to many tourists.
