After enjoying a four-day itinerary in Singapore, I found the city-state's nightlife quite boring due to the lack of entertainment options compared to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam's sleepless city.

Our tour guide recommended a few iconic nightlife activities in Singapore, including a 40-minute cruise from Clarke Quay to Marina Bay Sands, a 10-minute subway ride, and a 15-minute outdoor light show.

However, the cruise tour lacked notable highlights, as most tourists spent the time taking photos or scrolling through their phones. In fact, some of my friends were unsure of what landmarks we were passing by because there was no tour guide to introduce people about the tourist attractions.

By 10 p.m., several entertainment complexes and shopping centers already closed, leaving us wandering the streets in search of late-night dining options. The guide also suggested trying cocktails at some rooftop bars for a view of Singapore’s skyline but cautioned us about the high prices.

While Clarke Quay is home to a wide range of bars and restaurants, the atmosphere felt less lively and energetic than the bustling Bui Vien backpacker street in downtown HCMC.

With limited nightlife options available, I decided to return to my hotel for the night.

In contrast, HCMC’s bars and nightclubs stay open past midnight, and its pedestrian streets are always bustling with crowds. For those seeking a vibrant nightlife, Singapore may not be the ideal destination.

I resonate with many travel vloggers who describe Singapore as a boring country lacking in excitement and atmosphere.
