Capella Bangkok, located along the Thai capital’s Chao Phraya River, was named the best hotel.

Opened in 2020, the hotel has over 100 rooms surrounded by tropical gardens.

The three other Thai hotels that made the list were Mandarin Oriental Bangkok in 12th place, Four Seasons Bangkok at Chao Phraya River in 14th and The Siam at 26th.

The historic 115-suite Raffles Singapore hotel secured sixth place, while Capella on Sentosa Island, originally built in the 1880s, ranked 33rd.

Indonesia's Nihi Sumba, with its 27 villas on Sumba Island, claimed the 10th spot, and Desa Potato Head on Bali Island was ranked 21st.

Asia is home to the most hotels on the list with 19, followed by Europe with 13, North America with nine, Africa and Oceania with four each, and South America with one.

The list was first created last year by The World’s 50 Best Hotels Academy, a group of over 580 independent industry leaders.

Last year Italy's Passalacqua Hotel took the top spot.
