Security personnel at Hanoi's Noi Bai International Airport have tracked down a man for stealing a wallet from an Indian tourist.

On receiving a complaint on Monday from the 31-year-old tourist that he had lost his wallet after going through the security procedure for his Hanoi-Phu Quoc flight, officers checked security camera footage, Giao Thong newspaper reported.

It showed a man picking up the wallet and then boarding a flight to Can Tho.

Aviation authorities quickly took action and the man was held upon landing at Can Tho Airport in the Mekong Delta.

He admitted to his theft and the case was handed over to the Southern Airport Authority for further actions.

The wallet contained personal papers and cash worth VND1.45 million (US$60).

Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat in HCMC, Vietnam's largest airports, have achieved notoriety of late for baggage thefts.
