Under the new policy, airlines will be responsible for feeding, housing and returning any foreign travelers denied entry by immigration officials due to incomplete or incorrect travel documents, Malaysia's Rakyat Post reported.
The decision was made in line with international laws as well as under Malaysia's immigration regulations, he said at a press conference on Wednesday.
At the point of departure, airlines must find out if their passenger has a return ticket before issuing a boarding pass.
Nearly four million travelers arrived in Malaysia via Kuala Lumpur International Airport between January and June.
