The tourist, known on Instagram as Travel.saya, donned the airline's iconic uniform for her journey from Jakarta's Sukarno Hatta International Airport to Singapore's Changi Airport on Sept. 18, Asia One reported.
A photo shared on Instagram account Travel.saya shows the tourist wearing sarong kebaya, the traditional uniform of Singapore Airlines cabin crew, while waiting for her flight at a lounge of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta, Indonesia. |
She documented her experience in multiple videos posted to her Instagram account, which has over 2,000 followers.
In a video, the airline crew showed their surprise to see a passenger dressed like them, greeted her warmly and even took photos with her.
"You look amazing! And the reactions from the crew are so welcoming too," one Instagram user commented.
Another added, "You must really love Singapore Airlines."
However, some netizens criticized the tourist for wearing the uniform, citing concerns that it could cause confusion in emergency situations.
"It's not a bad thing, but it could definitely create confusion during an emergency," one user wrote.
Another commenter said, "This might confuse other passengers. Don't do it again," adding that wearing the uniform could be seen as disrespectful to the crew.
The sarong kebaya, unveiled in 1968, remains a hallmark of Singapore Airlines, which has been consistently voted as one of the world's best airlines by prestigious aviation organizations, Singapore's news site 8days reported.
