A court in India's Hisar City has sentenced a hotel manager to 10 years in imprisonment for raping a female tourist in India three years ago.

Gulshan Kumar was also fined Rs50,000 (US$600) at the trial on March 19, The Times of India newspaper reported.

According to the indictment, the 40-year-old tourist came to the northwest city of Hisar with friends and had stayed at a well-known hotel located at Red Square in 2020, Tribune India reported.

At night, the manager entered her room and raped her. He locked the hotel's main gate and she waited for 40 minutes before she could escape.
