Taiwan ranked second with 62%, followed by Thailand (55%), Japan (52%), and Malaysia (49%), based on a survey conducted by Agoda between Aug. 1 and 19, 2024.
The survey polled over 4,000 travelers from 10 markets - India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.
"South Korea’s culinary scene attracts food enthusiasts from around the world, undoubtedly bolstered by the popularity of K-dramas and movies, which often highlight unique gourmet experiences," Agoda said.
On Jeju Island, one of South Korea’s most popular destinations, food lovers can indulge in fresh seafood and heukdwaeji (black pork) sizzling on a traditional Korean BBQ grill. For the more adventurous, dishes like ganjang gejang (raw crab marinated in soy sauce) are a specialty in coastal cities like Incheon.
Traditional markets, such as Gwangjang Market in Seoul, are famous for street food staples like tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) and bindaetteok (savory pancakes).
