The list of restaurants in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang that will be awarded with Michelin star ratings in 2024 is scheduled to be revealed on June 27.

The announcement will be made at a ceremony held at the five-star InterContinental Saigon hotel in downtown HCMC and broadcast on Michelin Guide Asia YouTube channel, the organizing board of the event said in a statement.

In addition to the prestigious star rating system, the organizing board will release a list of Michelin-selected restaurants, and winners of Michelin Guide Special Awards and the "Bib Gourmand" award category for restaurants in Da Nang that offer delicious food at affordable prices.

This year, Da Nang is the third Vietnamese city after Hanoi and HCMC where Michelin inspectors have come to evaluate restaurants.

The list of restaurants that receive Bib Gourmand selection in Hanoi and HCMC will be revealed ahead of the ceremony.

According to Michelin, its inspectors assess venues based on five criteria: the personality of the chef as presented in the cuisine, the harmony of flavors, the mastery of cooking techniques, the quality of products and the consistency both over time and across the entire menu.

In the Michelin system, one star signifies a very good restaurant, two stars are excellent cooking that is worth a detour, and three stars means exceptional cuisine that is worth a special journey.

According to the Michelin Guide website, there are over 3,000 Michelin-starred restaurants in nearly 40 different countries.

Last year, four Vietnamese restaurants - three in Hanoi and one in HCMC - were awarded with a one-star rating.
