Actor Nicholas Tse recently shared his love for Vietnamese cuisine, calling Vietnamese bread "the best I've ever eaten" in his culinary video.

In the video posted on his Instagram, Tse introduces his followers to Banh Mi Nem, a Vietnamese sandwich shop located in Wan Chai District in Hong Kong.

Tse, known for his interest in food, noted that such Vietnamese sandwich shops are rare in Hong Kong, making this experience all the more special.

While waiting for his order, Tse filmed the fresh ingredients on display, including Vietnamese coriander, fried onions, pickled vegetables, and cold cuts. He highlighted the preparation process with the bread fresh from the oven, spread with pate and butter before the ingredients were layered on.

He praised the sandwich's balance of flavors: "The pork belly and ham are superb, the pickled vegetables offer the perfect sweet-sour contrast, but the real star is the bread crust. It may look thick and heavy, but it's surprisingly soft and crispy. How is it so fluffy? The filling and the bread come together so perfectly—it's the best sandwich I've ever had."

Banh Mi Nem was opened by Kiki Phung, a Vietnamese expat, in April 2024 to bring the genuine taste of Vietnamese banh mi to Hong Kong.

The shop has gained recognition, even earning a recommendation from the Michelin Guide earlier this year.

According to Michelin, the shop's banh mi features Vietnamese char siu, sausage, and pate in a baguette, with pickled radish and chili adding an extra kick.

Tse began his entertainment career in 1996 and made his acting debut in 1998, quickly rising as one of Hong Kong's leading actors and singers.
