During his tour, the 19-year-old American YouTuber spent 180 ringgits (US$42) at the famous Jalan Alor food market to try durian, known as the king of fruit.
In a YouTube video posted on Tuesday, he expressed disbelief at the price, exclaiming "$42 for some fruit? That's crazy."
The experience took a dramatic turn when he nearly choked on a durian seed but quickly recovered, later sharing the fruit with fans nearby, The Star reported.
IShowSpeed's culinary adventures did not end there. He visited Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, where he tried fried rice at Fuiyoh Restaurant which was opened by Malaysian YouTube personality Uncle Roger on Sept. 11.
During his visit, he praised the restaurant's egg fried rice and even had a brief video call with Uncle Roger himself, giving the dish high compliments.
Additionally, IShowSpeed sampled other local favorites, including Miaow Miaow prawn crackers, Super Ring prawn crackers, and the iconic Ramly Beef Special burger from a street stall near Bangsar.
Prior to Malaysia, he also visited Thailand, Philippines, Cambodia and Vietnam as part of his 10-day tour around Southeast Asia.
During his visit to HCMC on Sept. 14, he also explored the local food scene and tried banh mi from the famous Huynh Hoa stall, known for being one of the most expensive sandwich spots in the city.
