After landing in HCMC late last week, IShowSpeed, commonly known as Speed, live-streamed his city tour on his YouTube channel, which boasts nearly 30 million subscribers.
He visited several of the city's tourist attractions, including Ben Thanh Market and Nguyen Hue Walking Street before stopping by Landmark 81, Vietnam's tallest building.
During his tour, Speed learned how to make and enjoyed banh mi at Huynh Hoa, a well-known spot among foreign tourists. Vietnamese-American chef Andrea Nguyen rated this as one of the best banh mi shops in HCMC on BBC Travel.
A fully-loaded banh mi from the bakery costs nearly VND70,000 (US$2.87), making it one of the priciest in HCMC. Each sandwich weighs about 400 grams and is packed with four to six types of meats, pork floss, pate, butter, cucumber, pickled daikon and carrots, cilantro, and chili.
Speed prepared a portion for himself with full toppings.
"It's fine," he said after trying it and learning how it's called in Vietnamese.
