Da Nang hotel fined $850 after tourist's complaint about dirty room

Da Nang authorities slapped a VND20-million (US$850) fine on a hotel for having a woman guest stay in a dirty room for two weeks and refusing to clean it.

Tran Thi Thuy Dung of Ba Ria-Vung Tau booked a room at the Sea Sand Hotel 1 on An Thuong 3 Street from May 1 to 13.

She complained the room had not been cleaned before her arrival and kept telling the hotel staff to do so, but they reportedly refused.

The woman lamented about her experience on social media, prompting local authorities to step in.

The hotel was forced to make a public apology to her.
