A Chinese tourist recently shared a heartwarming experience on social media, recalling how a Malaysian woman paid for her meal when she had no cash.

In a post on her Xiaohongshu account late last month, the tourist said she had assumed that most places in Malaysia would accept electronic payments, so she did not bring any cash.

However, the first restaurant she visited only accepted cash, leaving her in a difficult situation, MS News reported.

Seeing her dilemma, a woman nearby offered to pay for her meal without hesitation.

"I later asked for her contact so I could repay her and thank her properly, but she gently declined and simply walked away," the tourist wrote.

Before leaving, the kind-hearted woman shared that she had a fond impression of China, having visited cities like Beijing, Shanghai, and Xi’an.

The post has since garnered over 1,700 likes and hundreds of comments, with netizens praising Malaysians for their kindness and generosity.

China was the second-largest source of visitors to Malaysia during the first four months of this year.

Malaysia introduced a 30-day visa-free entry policy for Chinese citizens in December 2023 and has extended the scheme until 2026.

Malaysia recently announced the extension of its visa exemption for Chinese travelers for another five years, with an option to extend it for an additional five years afterward, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said as reported by Bernama.
