Jiang Yangbo, 30, pleaded guilty to charges of "theft on board an aircraft" at a court late last week, Channel News Asia reported.
On May 16, while boarding the flight, Jiang removed another passenger's laptop bag from the overhead compartment, rummaged through it, and took a Citibank credit card, which he placed in his right rear pocket, according to the indictment.
He then returned the laptop bag to the compartment and went to the bathroom before heading back to his seat.
However, another passenger witnessed his actions and alerted the bag's owner after the plane landed at Singapore's Changi Airport, South China Morning Post reported.
Upon realizing the credit card was missing, the victim reported the theft to the police, leading to Jiang’s arrest.
