The Australian government has agreed to extend the validity of Indonesian business visas from three to five years in a bid to boost mutual travel.

The decision came following a recent meeting between Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and his Indonesian counterpart Joko Widodo, Nikkei Asia reported.

Indonesians will also be able to access a frequent traveler visa with a validity period up to 10 years that allows its holder to make multiple entries to Australia.

Australia is also committed to making progress in processing visas.

Australia’s PM said the average time for Indonesian visitor visa applications had fallen from 60 days to just seven days while the average processing time for business visas was now just three days.

In 2022, there were approximately 654,000 Australian visitors to Indonesia.
