The assault occurred last Saturday as the flight was heading from Winnipeg to Vancouver, forcing the crew to call the police, The Canadian Press reported.
As the plane landed at Vancouver Airport, officers boarded the flight and apprehended the passenger under Section 28 of the Mental Health Act, which allows authorities to bring people for immediate examination by a doctor or nurse, Vancouver Sun newspaper reported.
However, while the man was being taken off the flight, he resisted by biting and spitting on officers, forcing them to use a mesh bag with an elastic closure that prevents the spread of diseases.
