Video footage on social media shows water cascading from the rooftop pool of a five-star hotel in Bangkok following a 7.7-magnitude earthquake in Myanmar that rocked neighboring countries.

The video was taken from inside an office space at the WeWork T-One Building by Bangkok resident Sebastian Wolff who posted it via Storyful.

In other videos shared on social media, water can also be seen splashing out of the rooftop pool, hitting dozens of floors before falling onto the streets below.

Located on Sukhumvit Road in the heart of Bangkok, the hotel was voted the best in Southeast Asia at the 2024 Condé Nast Traveller Readers' Choice Awards U.K.

It has 381 rooms and suites overlooking busy streets of the Thai capital.

A 7.7-magnitude earthquake hit in Myanmar on Friday afternoon, causing buildings to collapse and sending tremors and panic across Vietnam and Thailand.

In Bangkok, alarms went off in buildings as the earthquake hit around 1:30 p.m., and startled residents were evacuated down staircases of high-rise condominiums and hotels, AP reported.

The greater Bangkok area is home to more than 17 million people and is a popular tourist destination among foreigners.
