Seven Zalo group administrators who used the platform to out traffic police locations were fined VND52.5 million ($2,156) by police in the Central Highlands' Dak Lak Province.

The administrators were fined Monday by Krong Pak District police for "collecting, processing and using information of organizations and individuals without consent or for wrongful purposes."

In November 2023, the seven people created two Zalo group chats and invited hundreds of members to join. The goal of the group chats was to inform members of the locations of traffic police stops so they could avoid being fined for violations.

Every day, members of the group would report and exchange thousands of information pieces on traffic police forces through various media, including text, images and videos.

The seven administrators admitted to their wrongdoings at the police station.
