Police probe hit-and-run at Vietnam apartment basement

Surveillance camera footage at an apartment complex on Thich Quang Duc Street, Thu Dau Mot City, showed that a woman was walking into the basement at the complex at around 4 p.m. Saturday last week. As she was walking, a car hit her in the basement, severely injuring her.

The driver did not stop, but continued to run into deeper parts of the basement. After around 15 seconds, the car made a turn and rushed outside of the basement, despite people trying to block it.

The woman has been hospitalized.

Authorities said the driver who caused the accident lives in the apartment complex. Local police forces are analyzing camera footage and working with witnesses for an investigation.
