Four people in the Mekong Delta's Tien Giang Province were detained after blocking National Highway 1 for hundreds of people to participate in an illegal motorbike race.

Nguyen Van Khang, Le Van Khanh Duy, Nguyen Hoang An and Nguyen Hoang Phuc, aged 20-24, were detained by police of Chau Thanh District on Wednesday and are now under investigation for disrupting public order.

Earlier in February, six other people were arrested also for organizing the race.

On Feb. 11, hundreds of people from different Mekong Delta provinces formed a group on social media to organize a motorbike race. They even deployed people at the Chau Thanh District police headquarters as lookouts.

At 10:30 p.m., they blocked off a section of National Highway 1 running through Long Hung Commune for a motorcycle race. However, police officers ambushed the group.

Several people of the group tried to escape, but 44 people, along with 43 motorbikes, were stopped by the police.
