Retailers are also offering freebies like computer peripherals, backpacks and shopping vouchers. Gaming laptops with powerful processors and large batteries are attracting the most interest.
Asus has slashed the prices of many of its gaming laptops by VND4-7 million (US$150-265) to VND14-21 million ($530-800).
But Lenovo, HP and Acer are offering even bigger discounts of VND7-9 million ($270-340) though not on high-end versions, which are only VND2-4 million ($75-150) cheaper, Dantri reported.
Gaming laptops are usually high-performance and good for students who have demanding tasks like design and programming though their weight and size make portability an issue.
Thin and light laptops are also in demand. The 256GB MacBook Air M2 is priced at VND19.39 million ($740), down VND10 million ($380) from its original price.
The MacBook Air M4 has dropped VND3 million ($110) to VND26.99 million ($1,000). MacBook Pro models have seen smaller cuts of VND1-3 million ($38-110).
Buyers with tighter budgets are looking at thin and light laptops from Dell, LG, Acer, Redmi, and MSI, which are being discounted by VND3-8 million ($110-300) and priced at VND7-20 million ($270-760).
Hoang Minh Tam, a spokesperson for retailer Hoang Ha Mobile, says: "Key products expected to drive sales this season include ... MacBooks and laptops from Asus, Acer, Lenovo, and MSI. We also expect strong growth in accessories like headphones, speakers, chargers, and cables."
