Fans flood the streets to celebrate Vietnam’s SEA Games win over Thailand

Tens of thousands of people poured onto central roads across major cities, cheering and celebrating Vietnam’s victory over Thailand at SEA Games men's football final on Thursday night.

    Crowds stretch more than 3 km across central Ho Chi Minh City

    As the night wore on, thousands of fans continued to pour into central streets, causing traffic congestion to stretch for kilometers along routes such as Ton Duc Thang Street, Khanh Hoi Bridge and Ba Son Bridge.

    Crowds pack the streets of Vinh in celebration

    Along Truong Thi Street, Le Duan Boulevard and around the central square in Nghe An in central Vietnam, long lines of motorbikes and cars stretched out, moving slowly. Residents waved national flags and banners, honked their horns, and repeatedly chanted "Vietnam champions" and "Vietnam victory" as they passed through intersections.

    HCMC fans bring pots and pans into the streets to cheer

    Around midnight, residents on Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street and Ton Duc Thang Street continued taking to the streets with pots, pans and homemade trophies, whipping up the atmosphere to celebrate the Vietnam U22 team’s victory.
