The G1 humanoid robot from China’s Unitree Robotics was seen in a viral social media video, where it clumsily handled a frying pan, spilling food and slipping in the kitchen.

The robot gained attention after a tweet from X user @bishara on Oct. 31, featuring a 22-second clip of the G1 attempting to cook while dressed in a French maid outfit, Interesting Engineering reported.

A voice can be heard telling the robot, "If you can cook the meal I’m gonna go in here and play Fortnite, okay?". Unfortunately, the robot struggled with the task, spilling food across the kitchen floor before slipping. The video quickly amassed over 1.8 million views, sparking a light-hearted discussion about the robot’s capabilities.

A follow-up video in the thread showed G1 breaking into a room like a burglar, accidentally shattering a glass door before crashing into the camera equipment. Both clips were part of a video originally posted by YouTuber Cody Detwiler, known as "WhistlinDiesel," titled What Happens if You Abuse a Robot? as reported by Futurism.

Standing 1.3 meters tall and weighing 35 kilograms, G1 is an upgraded version of the earlier H1. The H1 had also gone viral earlier this year after footage showed the robot violently flailing at engineers while suspended by a crane in a Chinese testing factory.

The G1 robot boasts 23 degrees of freedom and features advanced perception and communication systems, including a 3D LiDAR sensor and a RealSense depth camera for enhanced spatial awareness. It also includes a noise-canceling microphone array for voice command recognition and a 5-watt stereo speaker for clear, natural audio responses.

Originally designed for industrial and research purposes, Unitree has since expanded the G1’s capabilities for household use, allowing the robot to perform tasks in domestic environments.
