Apple’s foldable iPhone could start at $2,300, making it the company’s most expensive model yet, with mass production expected in the second half of 2026, according to market analysts.

Analyst Jeff Pu said Apple’s foldable devices have entered the New Product Introduction (NPI) phase at Foxconn, Apple’s key manufacturing partner, with early prototyping set to begin in April.

All Apple products go through the NPI process, even updates to existing models.

While Pu did not provide details, MacRumors suggested Apple’s foldable lineup could include an iPhone with an up to 8-inch inner display and a foldable iPad with a screen as large as 19 inches.

Pu also noted that iPhone shipments in 2025 are expected to be "lukewarm" due in part to Apple delaying the launch of its Apple Intelligence Siri features.

However, he expects the foldable models to boost Foxconn’s business in 2026.

Barclays analyst Tim Long estimates that the iPhone Fold will start at $2,300, nearly double the price of the iPhone 16 Pro Max, which starts at $1,199.

In Vietnam, the iPhone 16 Pro Max has recently hit its lowest price since its launch last September, now starting at VND29.99 million (US$1,174).

He based this estimate on supply chain checks in Asia, which also suggest a launch in late 2026 or early 2027, according to Apple Insider.

Market analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts the iPhone Fold will feature a 7.8-inch display, lack Face ID, and be priced between $2,000 and $2,500, launching within the same timeframe.

If accurate, Apple’s foldable iPhone would be among the most expensive foldable smartphones on the market.

In comparison, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold6 starts at $1,899 for 256GB of storage, while the Flip6 starts at $1,099.

Google’s Pixel 9 Pro Fold is priced from $1,799, and the OnePlus Open starts at $1,699.
