Prices of the 256GB RAM iPhone 16 Pro Max have dropped by VND5 million (US$195), or 14.2%, since its launch last September.

At authorized retailers like The Gioi Di Dong, FPT Shop, Minh Tuan Mobile, 24hstore, and CellphoneS, its price starts at VND29.99 million, down from VND34.99 million at launch when it was constantly out of stock.

The price of the 512GB version has fallen from VND40.99 million to VND36.19 million, while the 1TB model is down from VND46.99 million to VND42.59 million.

These prices exclude possible promotions offered by retailers, which can reduce the cost by another VND1 million.

Nguyen Anh Hong, 24hstore’s marketing director, said: "Previous Pro Max models saw smaller price drops over the same period (five months).

"The 15 Pro Max, for example, dropped by VND4 million (11.4%)."

She said the launch of flagship Android models like Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and Xiaomi 15 Ultra this year has intensified competition.

A spokesperson for Minh Tuan Mobile said lowering the price makes the iPhone more attractive to consumers.

"Prices of the iPhone 16 series, especially the 16 Pro Max, are at their lowest since launch and expected to remain steady."

The prices of other iPhone 16 models have dropped by 5-15% while the 16e, launched on March 7, is also sold at discounts of 4-5%, a rare occurrence for a new iPhone in Vietnam.

As with previous generations, the Pro and Pro Max models remain the most popular, accounting for 70-90% of sales, with the 16 and 16 Plus sharing the rest.
