VinFast sold 291 electric vehicles in India in November, surpassing Tesla’s 48 units, driven by lower prices and local assembly, according to recent retail data from the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations.

In November, VinFast's sales increased 122.14% over the previous month, while Tesla saw a 20% increase, according to Hindustan Times.

Tesla entered the EV market of the world’s most populous country, home to some 1.46 billion people, in mid-2025, with its sole Model Y priced between 5.99-6.79 million rupees (US$66,213-75,030).

VinFast, meanwhile, made its debut at the Bharat Mobility Expo in January 2025, marking its first international expansion outside Southeast Asia.

The locally assembled VF 6 and VF 7 SUVs, launched on Sept. 6, are priced between 1.65-2.55 million rupees.

VinFast’s earlier market entry helped build local visibility and brand familiarity, supported by its Tamil Nadu factory project and plans to open 35 showrooms across 27 cities by year-end, as noted by the Economic Times.

Tata Motors remained the market leader in India in November, with 6,153 units sold, supported by its strong lineup and extensive dealer network.
