The service, introduced on Thursday, is the first e-vehicle taxi fleet in the Philippines to be recognised by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, according to Philstar.
In partnership with local operator EV Taxi Corp, the fleet will operate in key Metro Manila hubs, with plans to expand EV to GrabCar services in urban centers beyond the capital.
This move is a major milestone for the Philippines, which remains dominated by traditional combustion engine vehicles, the company noted.
"This is not just about offering another ride option," said Grab Philippines Country Head Ronald Roda. "It’s about fundamentally changing the DNA of urban transport in the Philippines – one that aligns with our sustainability commitments, empowers Filipino commuters, and creates meaningful green livelihoods."

The launch follows a June 2024 pilot study with BYD Philippines, which confirmed the operational and financial viability of deploying EV for fleet operators and driver-partners.
The initiative will be supported by in-app sustainability features, such as voluntary contributions for environmental conservation with every transaction.
The ride-hailing giant also plans to collaborate with government and private sector partners to accelerate the nationwide adoption of electric vehicles.
Currently in beta, passengers can book electric taxis via the Transport tab on the Grab app, alongside traditional services. Feedback from passengers and drivers during this phase will help shape the service’s future design and expansion.
