Residents of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, two of Vietnam's largest cities, strolled around early on the first day of Tet (Lunar New Year) and enjoyed the tranquil atmosphere.

At 7 a.m. on Tuesday, people were seen cycling and strolling through the Trang Tien–Hang Bai intersection, usually one of Hanoi’s busiest areas, in Hoan Kiem Ward.

“For years, my family has kept a tradition that dates back to my parents’ generation, in which we gather at Hoan Kiem Lake to take photos with the Turtle Tower," said Hoang Tuan Anh (man in black blazer).

"It feels very peaceful to go out into the streets on this day."

About one kilometer away, many people sat on the sidewalk near the Saigon Notre-Dame Cathedral to drink coffee and take photos.
