Chinese actress Liu Yifei has become the subject of dating rumors involving Huawei Executive Director Yu Chengdong, who is 18 years older, following their social media interactions.

On Mar. 8, Chinese netizens raised eyebrows when Liu and Yu followed each other on Weibo. The speculation intensified after Liu liked a video in which Yu, also Chairman of Huawei’s Intelligent Automotive Solution Business Unit, celebrated International Women’s Day.

In the video, Yu filled a Huawei Cherry Luxeed R7 car with yellow roses, saying, "Yellow roses symbolise freedom and courage. Happy International Women’s Day," as reported by Hype.

The yellow roses quickly became linked to Liu, who is often associated with the flower due to her role in the C-drama "The Tale of Rose". This, combined with the public interactions between Liu and Yu led to widespread speculation about a possible romantic relationship, according to Kbizoom.

However, Liu’s fans suggest the online exchanges are work-related. Reports indicate that Huawei has signed Liu as the brand ambassador for its automobile division, and she has been seen using a Huawei smartphone.

Liu has not addressed the dating rumours or confirmed any partnership, while Yu has dismissed the claims as "totally false". Speaking to Jany Hejuan Zhao, CEO of TMTPost Group, via WeChat, Yu stated, "I have never met her so far in my entire lifetime," as reported by Sohu.

Yu Chengdong, 55, is a key figure in China’s business sector. He joined Huawei in 1993 and has held several important roles within the company.

Liu, 37, was born in China and moved to the U.S. at age 10 after her parents’ divorce. She later became a U.S. citizen but returned to China to continue her entertainment career.

She first became well-known from the 2003 TV series "The Story of a Noble Family" and has since significantly impacted both Chinese and Hollywood cinemas. In 2009, she was named one of the New Four Dan actresses, marking her as one of the top actresses in China.

Liu’s dating history includes a confirmed relationship with South Korean actor Song Seung Heon, whom she met during the production of the 2014 Chinese romantic film "The Third Way of Love". The couple went public in 2015 but announced their breakup in 2018, citing busy schedules.

More recently, speculation has emerged about a possible romance between Liu and Chinese actor Li Xian, who is four years younger than her, after they were seen together at a party.
