Ly Hoang Nam is the fifth seed at the M15 Sharm El Sheikh tennis tournament held under the auspices of the International Tennis Federation (ITF).

Nam is back on the international stage after nearly two years, unable to participate in overseas competitions because of Covid-19.

After helping Vietnam advance in the Davis Cup tournament last month, he has been in Egypt since September 28 to try and improve his current world ranking, which has dropped to 781 after peaking at 385 in 2018.

For the M15 Sharm El Sheikh, which has a prize pool of $15,000, Nam is seeded fifth. He has chosen to play in Egypt because the country is hosting a series of M15 tournaments from October to November and he can play in any of them.

Accompanying Nam in Egypt is 18-year-old Vu Ha Minh Duc, who lost to Brazilian Laelson Rodrigues in the second qualifying game for the tournament that begins Wednesday.

Duc will stay in Egypt to train and prepare for the next tournaments. The next M15 Sharm El Sheikh tournament will be held October 11-17.
