Ly Hoang Nam, Vietnam's top tennis player, has climbed 85 places to enter the ATP top 500 world ranking.

Nam soared to 483rd after finishing second at ITF M25 Toulouse in France. Before the tournament, he peaked at 568th and was seeded eighth. Nam went all the way to the final, where he lost 0-2 to the third seed, Kenny De Schepper of France. Nam received $2,100 and 16 points toward his ATP ranking. With 70 points, Nam is the number one tennis player in Southeast Asia.

This is the first time that Nam returned to the ATP top 500 since October 28, 2019. His highest position to date is 385th, recorded in November 2018.

After Toulouse, Nam will take part in two tournaments in Thailand this April, then return to Vietnam for SEA Games 31.

The tennis event of SEA Games 31 will take place from May 13 to 22 in the northern Bac Ninh Province.

At SEA Games 30 three years ago, Nam brought Vietnam the only tennis gold medal, in the men’s singles.
