Earlier Tran Hung Nguyen won a gold medal in men's 200m individual medley, his fourth consecutive gold at the event at the tournament, by finishing in 2 minutes and 2.11 seconds.

Le Tran Kim Uyen, Nguyen Xuan Thanh, Tran Dang Khoa, Tran Ho Duy, Nguyen Thi Y Binh and Nguyen Phan Khanh Han defended Vietnam's gold in taekwondo freestyle Poomsae mixed team event.
Vietnam's first gold medal at the tournament was won by Nguyen Thi Huong and Diep Thi Huong first in the women's 500m canoeing doubles event.

Three silver medals of Vietnam were won in the taekwondo pair event, ju-jitsu 52kg women's fighting event, and women's 200m individual butterfly.
Vietnam also won 10 bronze medals in ju-jitsu duo show and fighting events, men's canoe single 500 m, men's team blitz event in Makruk (Thai chess), Taekwondo recognized Poomsae women's team event, men's 200m individual medley, and men's 100m freestyle.

Phung Thi Hong Ngoc and Nguyen Ngoc Bich, scored 47.5 points, ranking behind two Thai teams, Thailand 1 (50.5 points) and Thailand 2 (48.5 points), in the women's duo show event, to win the first medal (bronze) for Vietnam at the SEA Games.
Hosts Thailand are leading the medal tally 14 medals including eight golds.
