VM Da Nang Midnight's medal carries shape of moon embracing sun

After months of incubation, VnExpress Marathon Da Nang Midnight 2024 has released the medal's design.

The medal is only for runners who complete races with valid results according to the organizers' regulations.

Runners have expressed appreciation for the meticulous and unique details of the medal as well as its meaning.

"The reason I chose VnExpress Marathon races is because items such as running shirts, especially medals, are always unique and beautiful," Pham Quoc Hung, one of VM's running fans, said.

VnExpress Marathon Da Nang Midnight takes place at 0 a.m. on July 14, which is the time between day and night, so the organizers chose the image of the moon embracing the sun.

The medal is made from a high-quality steel alloy. The crescent moon has a rough, pitted surface; inside is the sun with bright yellow rays.

In Eastern culture, the moon and sun symbolize the balance of yin and yang energy, as the organizers wanted to convey a message of life balance so that people have enough energy in life to reach good values.

The circle in the middle of the medal is inspired by the Dragon Bridge, the symbol of Da Nang, spanning the Han River.

At the center of the medal is the new logo of VnExpress Marathon.

The blue background with round dots simulates the water surface of the Han River reflected by bokeh lights on the streets at night.

The medal is also inspired by the youthfulness of Da Nang urban area, which is known as the most livable city in Vietnam.

"After many surveys, we realized that, whether at day or night, this city is still vibrant in its own way, so we chose the image of the moon and the sun," the organizers' representative said.

The back has a seal symbol bearing the letter "E," which stands for "energetic," the fourth letter in the 2024 VM Collection.

Runners who run all VnExpress Marathon events in 2024 will complete a series of secret letters assembled through medals.

Previously, at VM Ho Chi Minh City Midnight, the medal carried the letter "G (great); at VM Hue, it was "E (excellent); and at Quy Nhon, it is "N (nice).

When completing the distances, runners receive medals corresponding to each belt color.

The strap has a bokeh light effect, synchronized with the details on the shirt previously announced by the organizers.

VnExpress Marathon Da Nang Midnight starts on July 14 and is the third night running of the VnExpress Marathon system, after Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

Da Nang is known as the city of bridges in Vietnam. Participating in the tournament, runners have the opportunity to conquer famous bridges such as Han River Bridge, Dragon Bridge, and Tran Thi Ly Bridge.
