Konstantin Nekrasov has joined the HCMC cycling club for the annual national cycling championship this April.

Spanish pro Javier Perez was initially the key cyclist of HCMC for the championship. However, in a training session earlier this week, the Spaniard got into an accident that fractured his collarbone and tore his ACL. Although his surgery has been successful, Perez couldn't recover in time and had to say goodbye to the most prestigious cycling competition in Vietnam.

HCMC immediately searched for Perez’s replacement and got the nod from Nekrasov. He’s expected to arrive on Saturday.

The 23-year-old is the defending champion of the U23 cycling championship in Russia. With the addition of Nekrasov, HCMC will have two Russian riders on the team with the other being Igor Frolov.

HCMC TV Cup, the national cycling championship, will take place April 5-30 this year with 23 stages covering a total 2,405 km, starting in the northern Quang Ninh Province and ending in HCMC.
