'World's most beautiful footballer' Ana Maria Markovic finds new club after months of unemployment

American club Brooklyn FC announced on their official page that it had signed Markovic, 26. She quickly shared the news with fans by posting a photo in her new jersey, sparking excitement from supporters, with many promised to follow Brooklyn's matches this season just to watch her play, according to Soccerdonna.

The move also drew congratulations from fellow athletes and celebrities. England star Chloe Kelly, who scored the decisive goal in the Euro 2025 final, commented: "Wishing you all the best!".

Markovic previously played for Sporting Braga but left in February after the club announced a mutual contract termination. She appeared in just four matches during the first half of last season, failing to make much of an impact in Portugal.

Her departure fueled speculation among fans, with some suggesting it was linked to her relationship with Tomas Ribeiro, who plays for Farense in Portugal's top division, while others believed her popularity and appearance made her a target for isolation within the squad.

Markovic has built a massive social media following thanks to her striking appearance, which many have drawn comparisons to professional models and actresses. Her Instagram account alone boasts over 2.9 million followers.

Born in Croatia, Markovic moved with her family to Zurich, Switzerland, where she began her football career at FC Zurich before joining Grasshopper. She signed with Braga on a free transfer last season. On the international stage, she has earned 20 caps for the Croatia women's national team, scoring two goals.
