Le Khanh Hai, Chairman of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), has sent condolences to Argentina and Diego Maradona’s family on the football legend’s passing.

"We would like to express our deepest condolences over the passing of Diego Armando Maradona, a legend of Argentine football in particular and world football in general. This is a huge loss to Argentine football and for all of us. On behalf of the VFF, I would like to send my sincere sympathy to Argentina for this loss.

"Diego Maradona is an outstanding footballer who won the World Cup 1986 in Mexico for Argentina. His death is a very sorrowful event, but Maradona will always be a legend in the hearts of football lovers around the world. VFF and the Vietnamese football community share the loss and pain with Maradona’s family and Argentina. We would like to send our prayers to his family...," Hai wrote.

The condolences were conveyed to Maradona’s family through Argentinian Embassy in Vietnam.

Diego Armando Maradona is widely regarded as the best player of his generation and one of the greatest footballers of all time. He was one of the two joint winners of the FIFA Player of the 20th Century award, with the other being Brazilian legend Pelé.

Maradona played in four World Cup tournaments, including the 1986 edition in Mexico, where he captained Argentina to victory.

On November 25, at the age of 60, Maradona died after suffering a heart attack at his home in Tigre, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
