A draw on Friday afternoon put Vietnam in group I of the 2022 U23 Asian Cup qualifiers with Myanmar, Hong Kong and hosts Taiwan.

Vietnam are expected to have no hard time getting past the group because these three teams are considered much weaker. First place in group I is totally achievable for the team.

The U23 Asian Cup qualifiers will take place from Oct. 23 to 31, 2021. Vietnam will travel to Taiwan to play all matches.

A total of 42 teams were drawn into 11 groups with 15 spots available at U23 Asian Cup 2022 with Uzbekistan having already confirmed their place as hosts, marking the first time the tournament will be staged in the Central Zone.

The draw divided the teams into two regions: the West region comprising 23 West, South and Central Asian teams as well as the East region, which consists of 19 East and ASEAN teams.

After the qualifiers conclude, 11 group leaders and four best second-placed teams will claim tickets to the U23 Asian Cup 2022 in Uzbekistan, set to take place from June 1 to 19.
