VPF made the proposal to Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) based on the current situation of Covid-19 in the country and the schedule of clubs that compete at international tournaments, as well as the calendar of tournaments hosted by Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and FIFA during the rest of 2021.
According to the new plan by VPF, V. League 2 would commence between July 31 a Sept. 15, while top division V. League 1 will be played from July 31 to Aug. 22. National Cup will take place from Sept. 20 to 30.
VPF also suggested the second leg of V. League 1 be hosted at nine centralized venues without spectators. The nine stadiums would all be located in Hanoi, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Nam Dinh, Phu Tho in the north and Thanh Hoa in the north central, since the pandemic situation in the country grows ever complicated.
The proposal will have to gain approval from the VFF council and clubs. If approved, VPF would propose additional adjustments to league format and regulations.
