In the game on Saturday, Bernardo Silva put Portugal ahead in the 21st minute, firing a shot after Nuno Mendes' cross fortuitously came his way. Seven minutes later, Akaydin mistakenly passed the ball past the advancing goalkeeper, Altay Bayindir, without looking.
Bruno Fernandes sealed the victory in the 56th minute when Ronaldo, who had the chance to become the oldest goalscorer in Euro history, unselfishly passed to his former Manchester United teammate, allowing Fernandes to tap the ball into the net.
According to UEFA, Ronaldo has seven assists at Euro, surpassing the old record of Czech legend Karel Poborsky.
Behind them are Cesc Fabregas, Eden Hazard and Arjen Robben with five assists. At 39 years and 138 days old, Ronaldo also became the oldest player to make an assist in Euro history.
Ronaldo is the only player to compete in six Euro tournaments, in 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016, 2020 and 2024. The Portuguese striker has scored 14 goals in 27 matches at the Euro – an all-time record at the tournament.
At Euro 2020, Ronaldo broke Gianluigi Buffon's record of 58 appearances at Euro, including qualifiers and main event. The Portuguese striker has played 71 matches, far ahead of Croatian midfielder Luka Modric with 61 appearances.
Ronaldo can break more records at Euro 2024, including becoming the oldest player to score at the tournament, surpassing Ivica Vastic's 38 years and 257 days.
He can also surpass Leonardo Bonucci (34 years and 71 days) to become the oldest player to score in the Euro final, if Portugal reach the final.
However, Ronaldo has not scored a goal after playing the first two games of the Euro 2024 group stage, when Portugal beat Czech Republic 2-1 and Turkey 3-0.
With six points, Portugal are sure to enter the round of 16 with the top position of group F. In the last round on June 26, they will meet Georgia.
