Coach Mai Duc Chung has called up 28 players to prepare for 2022 Women's Asian Cup starting Sunday.

Training will take place at the Promotion Fund of Vietnamese Football Talent Academy (PVF). The players Chung has called up all performed well in the national women's football championship, which concluded Thursday.

"Aside from new young faces that got called up to the team for the first time, I also selected players who have fully recovered from their injuries.

Most players who participated in the qualifiers were also called up. In the upcoming tournament, we will face strong opponents like Japan, South Korea and Myanmar. Of course, we will continue to develop young players but with a tournament like this, I need players with international experience," Chung told the press.

2022 Women’s Asian Cup will take place in India from Jan. 20 to Feb. 6, 2022. Vietnam are in a tough group C with Japan, South Korea and Myanmar.

The top five teams of the tournament will qualify for 2023 Women’s World Cup.
